MTU saves time and money with Theorem's TPM 
MTU Detroit Diesel, one of the world's leading manufacturers of off-road diesel engines is reaping the benefits of installing Theorem's TPM through faster turnround times and reduced man-hours.
Bucking the trend of not investing in the current tough economic climate MTU Detroit Diesel are making savings in time and money after a decision to invest in Theorem TPM technology to solve CAD interoperability challenges.
Theorem's TPM was installed to save time through automating MTUs complex and labour intensive CAD data exchange processes where CATIA and or Pro/E data had to be prepared and despatched for a variety of customers - each with differing requirements.
Wellington Savage, a project manager for MTU explained that the tedious task of translating the CAD files lead to prohibitively long turnround times and possible dissatisfaction amongst their customers. He went on to say "One of the biggest benefits is that TPM can run jobs while I'm not here. In the off hours it takes full advantage of our CATIA or Pro/Engineer licences, so it works even when we are sleeping".
As well as reducing the turnround time, MTU has found that Theorem's TPM has resulted in tangible savings of around 60% in man hours on CAD interoperability.
TPM runs, controls and optimises computer processes. It is capable of sequencing and load sharing and is so robust that even if any translations fail the overall process continues. Full audit trails are automatically generated so that short term translation problems can be identified and fixed at the same time providing long term accountability without the need to have a person document the jobs.
TPM's flexibility means that it can be applied to almost any computer processes including CAD translation, distribution of manufacturing data and creation of visualistation files for use in other departments such as marketing, purchasing and technical publications. TPM is a solution for today's interoperability challenges and it saves time and money as it works.
