Theorem Proves Two into One Will Go
Leading product data translation specialist, Theorem Solutions has introduced a new package that provides a ‘Two into One’ capability for CATIA users needing to create JT format files.
The new translator package enables CATIA users to translate both V4 and V5 files automatically to JT without having to manage separate batches of work. It is particularly suitable for users migrating from V4 to V5, who invariably find they need to support both formats during a transition period. |

This is reflected in a requirement for JT format data from both sources; which previously required either two separate JT translators, translation to a common CATIA format prior to the creation of JT files, or a mix of both.
At the heart of Theorem’s package solution is the ability to identify the relevant source file and apply the correct translation protocol without operator input. Whatever the combination of CATIA V4 and V5, users have only to initiate a single translation process in order to generate JT output from a mixture of files, whether translated interactively or as a batch. The capabilities of the new package are further highlighted by its compatibility with CATIA V5’s Assembly Design application, which allows native CATIA V4 parts to be incorporated within the CATIA V5 CATProduct assembly structure. Again, no user input is required for the package to automatically identify and apply the correct translation to hybrid assembly data.
“We have developed this solution to address a problem that has been developing for some time,” says Keith Jeacock, General Manager of Theorem’s UK operations. “Our CATIA translation package is not only highly effective and simple to use; it is also very competitively priced, particularly when compared to the use of twin translators. It allows users to move from CATIA V4 to V5 in a timely manner, without creating additional compatibility problems that will need to be resolved after their migration has been completed.”
